On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States, marking his return to office for a second non-consecutive term. The ceremony took place indoors in the Capitol Rotunda due to severe cold weather.

Vice President JD Vance was sworn in first, followed by President Trump. The event featured performances by Carrie Underwood, who sang “America the Beautiful,” and the Village People. Former presidents, including Barack Obama, attended the ceremony, while Michelle Obama was notably absent. President Joe Biden attended, upholding the tradition of a peaceful transfer of power.

The inauguration coincided with Martin Luther King Jr. Day and included various events such as a parade, inaugural balls, and a Victory Rally at Capital One Arena. Security measures were extensive due to the unprecedented cold weather and recent security threats.

This inauguration marked the 60th presidential inauguration in U.S. history.
